[KUALA LUMPUR – APRIL 27, 2017] – The country’s most brilliant young minds congregated on 27 April 2017 at Glasshouse@Seputeh to celebrate the unveiling of Malaysia Tatler’s Generation T – a brand new annual list announcing the 50 brightest connectors, creative visionaries, influential innovators and impactful young talents transforming Malaysia.

The Generation T 2017 List, compiled by Malaysia Tatler in conjunction with a distinguished panel of industry experts and influential business leaders in Malaysia, continues to be the ultimate reference guide to the young, up-and-coming figures who are shaping the country’s future.

Generation T is an Asia-wide community composed of passionate individuals under 40 years old who work in a variety of industries such as art, technology, food & beverage, fashion, design, music, film, environment and sports. Generation T recognises those entrepreneurs and passionate young leaders who are united by a common drive to excel and make their marks in numerous fields.

Says Elizabeth Soong, managing editor of Malaysia Tatler: “The 2017 Generation T List shines a spotlight on 50 of the brightest from this community, who are impacting their respective industries and constantly innovating to make a difference in society. Generation T-listers gracing the launch included rapper Joe Flizzow, actress Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor, chefs Isadora Chai and Ili Sulaiman, social entrepreneur Dzameer Dzulkifli, activist Syed Azmi, fashion designers Fiziwoo and Jovian Mandagie, and tech entrepreneurs Raja Jesrina Raja Arshad and Joel Neoh.

All eyes were on the Generation T official reveal – a spectacular photo gallery featuring the 50 young talents. Six stunning portraits of influential individuals were highlighted as being specially chosen by Swiss watchmaker Hublot to represent the brand’s values of the art of fusion and boldness of spirit to succeed

Each guest received a copy of the 2017 Generation T List, which will be available on newsstands from May 2. An online directory went live on MalaysiaTatler.com at midnight on April 28.

The invitation-only event encapsulated the youthful spirit of a trendy outdoor jazz club. The party saw some of Malaysia’s success stories come together for an evening of fun and entertainment in good company, complemented by food from Shangri-La Hotel Kl KL and drinks by Hennessy X.O. Headline musical act, Fazzband, kept the vibes of the evening upbeat all night long. Other sponsors for the event include BMW and Decorté.

Before the unveiling of the list however, Malaysia Tatler presented a cheque of RM90,000 to Generation T-lister John-Son Oei of Epic Homes, raised from a number of charitable donors to help build homes for the Orang Asli. It was also announced Michel Lamunière had pledged another RM10,000 to the cause, rounding the sum to a total of RM100,000. All 50 who made it on the 2017 list were also presented with a pewter-framed portrait of themselves.

The 2017 Generation T List is published in collaboration with presenting partner Hublot, and will complement the established 300 List in Malaysia Tatler’s annual Society, which identifies the most powerful and influential members of business and society each year. Regional editions of the Generation T List will be released in Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan and the Philippines later this year.
