Back-End Engineer

An excellent opportunity for any back-end engineer to expand his/her skillset. We’re looking for a security-oriented candidate to integrate our systems leading to the evolution and expansion of our brand reach across the Asia Pacific region. The candidate is expected to be based in Hong Kong.

The Job

  • Creating database schemas that not only represent and support business objectives but also optimize performance for associated applications
  • Develop & maintain RESTful web services to integrate the company’s internal systems
  • Maintain & support DevOps tools for deployment & monitoring
  • Update and patch systems to adhere to strong security protocols
  • Work closely with the product development team to analyze, design, implement and support financial/operational system
  • Identify system bottlenecks and optimize performance continuously
  • Implement functional specifications & use cases by writing well-designed, testable and reusable code
  • Keep up-to-date with new/current technologies and provide solutions to improve web applications and system architecture

The Person

  • Degree holder in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years relevant software development working experience
  • Programming languages: PHP, HTML5, Node.js, JSON, CSS3, Javascript, JQuery
  • Familiarity with Linux commands and shell scripts would be a plus
  • Solid experience in MySQL/SQL relational databases as well as Redis & NoSQL databases
  • Practical experience in Laravel MVC framework and Bootstrap RWD framework
  • Knowledge of Vue/React would be a plus
  • Strong experience in code versioning tools (Git/Bitbucket) and associated deployment pipelines
  • Experience designing & developing RESTful web services
  • Familiar with AWS & AliCloud would be a plus
  • Knowledge in Elasticsearch would be a plus
  • Solid and proven skills in the full development life cycle
  • Self-motivated, able to work under pressure and quality oriented
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
  • Good command of spoken and written English (and Cantonese is also preferred but not essential)
